Monsoon Health: Conjunctivitis is common during this season; here's how to prevent it

During monsoon season, the risk of conjunctivitis also known as pink eye increases due to increased germs and viruses in the air. According to experts, conjunctivitis can be caused due to heavy moisture in the air. In this season, humidity is very high which can directly affect our eyes. 

It is highly contagious and is mostly common among children. It mostly affect both the eyes one by one and is considered contagious. 

So, it is better to take extra care of the eyes during the rainy season to prevent yourself and your family from this common eye infection. Here are a few symptoms to identify conjunctivitis shared by Dr. Dr.Santosh Yadav on his Instagram handle @parentingtips_surat.

How to identify conjunctivitis

  • Redness of eyes
  • Swollen or itchy eyes
  • Irritation and grittiness
  • Burning eyes while looking at a screen
  • Discharge of a teary fluid from eyes

How to prevent conjunctivitis

  • Give rest to your eyes as much as possible
  • Avoid going in direct sunlight, and make sure to wear sunglasses
  • Compress eyes with cold water
  • Keep washing your hand frequently
  • Avoid touching your eyes with your hand

Tip- Visit your nearby ophthalmologist incase of extreme  conditions
