A recent survey revealed that 3 out of 4 Indians suffer from a deficiency of Vitamin D. The research was conducted by Tata 1Mg pharmacy on about 2.2 lakh people in 27 Indian cities.
During the survey, it was noted that 84 per cent of youth suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. Besides this, the deficiency was more prevalent in men below the age of 25 as compared to elderly people and women.
Among the 27 cities studied, Vadodara (89%) and Surat (88%) had the highest vitamin D-deficient population. Looking at the
survey data, experts say that the cases of vitamin D deficiency are increasing due to changing eating habits, less exposure to sunlight and indoor lifestyle.
