AIIMS neurologist, Professor M. V. Padma Srivastava, recently revealed that stroke is the second leading cause of death in India, claiming one life every 4 minutes.
Approximately 185,000 strokes occur annually in India and the risk is greater among younger and middle-aged people.
Furthermore, as per the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) report, India has a 68.6 per cent incidence of stroke, 70.9 per cent stroke deaths and 77.7 disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) lost.
