A recent study has revealed that oral sex has become a major reason for causing throat cancer in the UK and the US. Due to the recent surge, experts have been calling it an epidemic.
Dr Hisham Mehanna from the University of Birmingham wrote in the journal The Conversation, that oral sex has prompted a large rise in a specific type of throat cancer called oropharyngeal cancer, which affects the area of the tonsils and back of the throat.
The doctor further added that those with six or more lifetime oral-sex partners are 8.5 times more likely to develop oral cancer than those who do not practice oral sex.
