Parents tend to pick fancy tiffin boxes for their children. However, the cool plastic tiffin boxes with cartoon characters and fancy designs are not the safest option.
According to Pediatrician Dr. Sanjay Wazir (Motherhood Hospitals, Gurgaon), chemicals from plastics pass into food and drinks, especially while warming them up. These chemicals are poisonous substances that can have negative consequences on both people and the environment.
Previous studies have also warned that plastic contains disrupting chemicals that may be cancerous. Another chemical that is found in plastics is BPA, which can impair an unborn child's brain development.
While packing lunch for yourself or your child or storing leftover food in the fridge, one should always stick to glass or metal containers preferably steel.
