A new study has found that air pollution can cause lung cancer in people who have never smoked by waking up dormant cancer cells.

Published in the journal Nature, the team noticed a significant association between PM2.5 levels and the incidence of lung cancer cases.

The findings suggested that air pollution wakes cancer-causing mutations in the lungs, encouraging them to grow and potentially form tumours.
