A study conducted by researchers from the University of Colorado Boulder recently shed light on what happens when you flush with an open lid.
According to Scientist John Crimaldi, every time you flush a toilet, it releases tiny water droplets called
aerosol plumes. These droplets can spread pathogens from human waste and expose people in public restrooms to contagious diseases.
They used lasers to investigate how rapidly these particles move, and how long they linger in the air.
So, next time when you visit a restroom, don’t forget to close the lid before flushing.
