A new study suggests that brains with higher vitamin D levels may actually function better. The research was published in the latest edition of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
For the study, researchers examined levels of vitamin D in brain tissue. They found that those with higher levels of the vitamin were able to perform cognitive functions more effectively.
Experts also noted that elevated levels of vitamin D in the brain is associated with a 25% to 33% lower risk of dementia and mild cognitive impairment, which is a rising concern for many as the global population rises.
