Stretching offers more than just a boost of energy; it imparts lightness and focus, even amidst a busy day.

Recently, nutritionist Suchita A Mukerji shared that stretching releases endorphins, which uplifts mood and alleviates pain.

Regular stretching not only enhances muscle and joint well-being but also nurtures mental and emotional health. It increases blood flow, flexibility, and reduces muscle stiffness, triggering the release of feel-good endorphins.

Simple daily stretches, like neck, shoulder, and hamstring stretches, further improve flexibility and muscle tension when performed gently.

3 stretches that can be done daily to improve flexibility

  • Neck stretch: Gently tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear towards your shoulder. Hold for 15-20 seconds, then switch sides.
  • Shoulder stretch: Cross one arm over your chest and use your opposite hand to softly push the arm closer to your body. Maintain the stretch for 15-20 seconds before switching sides
  • Hamstring stretch: Position yourself on the floor with one leg extended and the other bent, with the foot placed flat against the inner thigh. Lean forward, aiming to touch your extended foot while maintaining a straight back. Sustain this stretch for 15-20 seconds per leg.
