In the latest study, it was found that higher intake of vitamin D supplements might lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in adults with prediabetes. It was found in the review that appeared in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
There was a 3-year follow-up period for this study and it was found that 22.7% of adults who received vitamin D and 25% who received a placebo, relatively had a 15% reduction in the risk.
Study authors concluded that a higher intake of vitamin D supplements can delay development of diabetes in more than 10 million people.
