A new data analysis led by UCL researcher shows that talking therapies used in treating depression in adults over 45 have the potential of lowering risk of heart diseases.
The study published in a European Health Journal, analysed data from 636,955 people between 2012 and 2020 and noticed their depressive symptoms with the help of a patient health questionnaire and found a 12% decrease in chances of cardiovascular disease and stroke in future.
People whose depression symptoms decreased after psychological sessions were less likely to develop heart diseases, the study concluded.
