When considering sports that could contribute to increased life expectancy, activities like swimming, running and walking often come to mind.

However, a Danish study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings challenges this notion by revealing that it's not solitary sports, but rather social ones, that have the greatest impact. Among these, Tennis is associated with an impressive increase of 9.7 years in life expectancy.

The study emphasized the remarkable benefits of engaging in sports with a social component. Previous studies have also demonstrated a positive correlation between exercise performed alongside family and friends and a longer life.

Other social sports such as soccer and badminton also showcased notable results in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings study, offering a life expectancy boost of approximately five to six years.

While cycling took the lead among solitary sports, yielding a 3.7-year advantage, swimming and jogging still provided a significant three-year increase in life expectancy.
