World Cancer Day is observed globally on 4 February to spread awareness about cancer and the stigma associated with the disease. The day was formed by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in the year 1993.

World Cancer Day 2022 theme is 'Close the care gap- Everyone deserves access to cancer care'. It is a three-year campaign to identify and address the issue regarding the inequality in assessing cancer services worldwide.
According to the Cancer Statistics report, more than 13,92,179 cancer cases were reported in India in 2020. Breast, lung, cervical and thyroid are the most common cancers in women. On the other hand, cancer of the lung, prostate, stomach and liver are most common in men.
