World Digestive Health Day is observed every year on 29th May to raise awareness about digestive disorders, promote education and prevention for better digestion.

This year, the day is being celebrated with the theme given by the World Gastroenterology Organisation Your Digestive Health: A Healthy Gut From the Start.

Tips to maintain your digestive well-being:

  • Keep your diet balanced and include nutrient-rich foods like protein, fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, vitamins and minerals.
  • Engaging yourself in regular exercise helps to promote regular bowel movements and supports healthy digestion.
  • Drinking an adequate amount of water is important to smoothen the movement of food through the digestive tract.
  • Always make sure to chew your food well for better digestion and absorption of nutrients.
  • Stress can inevitably impact your digestive system. Practising yoga, deep breathing and meditation techniques help in better digestion.
