World Hypertension Day is observed every year on May 17th in order to raise awareness to promote prevention and how to control it. The theme for this year is 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer', to combat the low awareness rates worldwide.
According to WHO, people with hypertension don't face any serious symptoms, however, very high blood pressure can cause chest pain, blurred vision, headaches, nausea and difficulty in breathing.
As per statistics, over 30 per cent of the world's population is affected by hypertension. The major factors behind them are over consumption of salt, eating less vegetables and protien, and eating too much saturated fat.
