Most of us will recall seeing doctors and health care professionals wearing green or blue clothes inside operation theatres. But have you wondered why? Well, science has an answer.
When we enter a dark room suddenly, and our eyes come in contact with green or blue, we tend to feel better. In a dark operation theatre, doctors face the same thing.
According to scientists, green and blue colours are opposite to red on the spectrum of light. As surgeons mostly focus on red during a surgery, the colours green and blue help enhancing their ability to see and make them more sensitive to red.
According to a report included in the 1998 edition of Today’s Surgical Nurse, green clothes also provide comfort to the eyes during surgery.
