How often do you wash your bras? Once a week? Once every few weeks? Well, it turns out you're not doing it nearly enough!
According to a personal hygiene survey, 35% of women wear a bra at least five times before washing it. While it is advised not to overwash your bras, as it can damage the elasticity of the bra; Lingerie Technologist, Lois Siciliano, advises washing them after every two to three wears.
However, the washing cycle depends on what you've done while wearing the bra or the climate you are in. When it comes to normal use, every two to three wears is fine. But, that's not the case if it's a sports bra or if it's a hot summer day.
Handwashing is the best way to keep your bras clean and in shape. All you need to do is fill a sink or bucket with cold water and add a few drops of liquid or any other mild detergent.
And, if you want to opt for machine wash then make sure you're using the most delicate wash available at the lowest possible temperature with no spin.
