Sharing daily life experiences with your best friend can feel therapeutic, according to some studies.
Published in SAGE Journals, the research indicates that quality conversations with a best friend can significantly enhance well-being. The researchers identified seven types of communication: catching up, meaningful talk, joking around, valuing others, showing care, giving compliments, and listening.
The study involved over 900 participants who were asked to engage in one of these communication activities and then report their feelings.
The findings revealed that individuals who communicated with their best friend in any of these ways reported higher levels of well-being and happiness compared to those who did not.
