1. Pretending to be unwell
2. Saying that you have a doctor's/dentist's appointment
3. Saying that a family member has fallen sick
4. Avoiding bad weather and the transport issues caused by it- for example because of rain
5. Have to pick children from school
6. Showing concern by saying that others at work might catch the illness
7. Family member or flatmate getting locked out of the house

Notably, National Leave the Office Early Day is observed every year on June 2. This day was created by Laura Stack, an expert in enhancing employee productivity in 2004.
