Researchers from the Washington State University found that people who enjoy experiencing JOMO or the 'joy of missing out', tend to have higher levels of social anxiety.
The research was conducted after surveying 500 participants. And, during the survey loneliness, social anxiety, social media use, personality traits and life satisfaction were assessed.
Previous research has linked FOMO or the 'fear of missing out' to low self-esteem and loneliness.
