In the recent past, ASMR or autonomous sensory meridian response is the new form of entertainment people are hooked to.

For the uninitiated, ASMR videos are gaining popularity, where sounds created by nails, slurping of food, stirring of a spoon, among others are used, providing viewers or listeners a sensory feeling. Natural sounds like rainfall, wind, rustling of leaves, among others also fall under ASMR.

According to a study published in the journal National Library of Medicine in January 2023, it was found that the tingling sensation caused by audiovisual stimuli leads to positive emotions. Young people use these sounds to relax themselves, induce sleep, reduce stress and alleviate anxiety.
