A study published in the journal Vaccine examined a cross-section of adults in the United States and revealed that over 50% of dog owners exhibited some hesitancy when it comes to vaccinating their pets against diseases like rabies and others.
The study also found out that approximately 45 per cent of households in the US are home to dogs. The survey findings indicate that while close to 40 per cent of dog owners have concerns about the safety of canine vaccines, over 20 per cent question their efficacy, around 30 per cent view them as medically superfluous.
Also about 37 per cent of dog owners believe that canine vaccination could cause their dogs to develop autism.
