While AQI levels in most Indian cities are getting more and more worrisome with each passing day, Nagaland's capital Kohima emerges as one of the cleanest cities in terms of air, after Srinagar. In terms of PM 10 concentration, Kohima was reported to have the cleanest air in the country by the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) with a concentration of 26.77 ug/m3. Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded the lowest PM 2.5 concentration at 26.33 ug/m3 in India in 2022.
NCAP witnessed little bit improvement in air quality in some other cities last year, but most of them did not qualify the safety limits.
