In just a few days, India will open gates to its new pilgrimage site, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The consecration ceremony will take place on January 22 and devotees around the world eagerly await. To help devotees have better access to the pilgrimage site, the government has revamped the Ayodhya Airport, renamed it Maharishi Valmiki Airport, and added a host of modern facilities. Let's take a look!

All you need to know about the Maharishi Valmiki Airport

The new airport's first phase was built at a cost of approximately Rs 1,450 crore. As soon as you enter the building, you will be greeted by many paintings depicting Ramayana. The terminal's roof is decorated with shikhara. The airport has two departure gates and one arrival gate. Travelers can rest and enjoy delicious food at the food court and cafes inside the airport. 

After you enjoy the facilities inside the airport, you will be greeted by 2,200 meters long and 450 meters wide runway. After the second phase is completed, the airport will be able to accommodate 600 peak-hour passengers, with an annual handling capacity of 10 lakh passengers. However, what is the most fascinating fact is that the airport was built in just 20 months!
