A Dutch multinational firm is all set to build a floating city in the Maldives. The city will be located just 10 minutes away from the capital, Malé.
The Maldives floating city will be able to accommodate 20,000 people and residents will be allowed to shift to the completed sections by early 2024.
As per reports, the city will hosts houses, shops and schools. And the price for a studio apartment in the luxurious floating city will be between USD 150,000 to USD 250,000 for a family home.
The city is being built to tackle the effects of climate crises and rising sea levels. Most of the islands of Maldives are less than one metre from sea level and they are expected to be under the water soon.
However, a floating city can manage to stay unaffected as it will rise with the rising water level.
