In a bid to check the weight and balance of the planes before take off, New Zealand's national airline Air New Zealand is asking passengers to step on the weighing scale before boarding their flight.
The airline further said that the numbers won't be displayed anywhere and the data will remain anonymous.
In a statement, Alastair James, a load control improvement specialist for the airline said that this is being done for safety purposes as they weigh everything that goes on the aircraft. That helps the pilots to know the average weight and balance of the planes.
