Every year lakhs of pilgrims travel to the cave shrine of Amarnath which is located at a height of 3,880 metres in the south of Kashmir. This year Shri Amarnath ji Yatra will commence on 1st July and will culminate on 31 August.
For many years it has been observed that due to the high altitude of the cave, many devotees fall sick with symptoms like loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, weakness, difficulty in sleeping, bowel dysfunction among others. And, to keep the pilgrimage health in check Shri Amarnath ji Shrine Board (SASB) has shared a list of permitted and banned food items during the yatra.
