Tripura will soon get a weekend tourism hub at the Ujjayanta Palace. It was recently announced by the Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury that the Chief Minister of the state, Manik Saha will inaugurate the weekend tourism hub on August 6.
According to Chowdhury, this initiative has been taken by the government to promote tourism in the Northeastern state and this is just the beginning. Former BCCI President and cricket stalwart Saurav Ganguly has already been roped in as the brand ambassador for Tripura tourism. The tourism hub will have a light and sound show, boating on a lake and food stalls for tourists.
The palace was named by poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, who used to visit it quite frequently to write peacefully and used to praise the palace for its architecture, the tiled floors, the intricately designed doors, and beautifully carved wooden ceilings showcasing the marvelous work of the artisans of those times.
