Kids' schools are closed and the mood for a vacation is upon all of us. Mountains are surely special but beaches are emotions for all beach bums. This World Ocean Day, we bring you a list of 5 of the best off-beat beach destinations in India for a marooned vacation. 

Mandvi, Gujarat

Mandvi is located in Gujarat's Kutch district. Showcasing golden-brown sand, this beautiful beach should definitely be in your bucket list for a unique experience.

Mandarmani, West Bengal 

Mandarmani’s serene beach is the best option for an offbeat experience with lesser crowd. It is located about 173 kms from Kolkata and perfect for couples, groups and families. You will be surprised by the number of red crabs crawling on the beach. 

Lakshadweep 

Lakshadweep, the smallest Union Territory of India is an archipelago of 36 islands and its picturesque beaches are some of the most beautiful ones in India. Bangaram Island is one of the most popular islands here.

Puducherry 

Puducherry is also a beautiful place and the Paradise beach is a must visit. You will have to take a ferry to reach there. Besides this, remnants of the French colonial past spread across the town, and The Matri Mandir at Auroville are the most important places to be visited.    

Diu 

Another union territory in the Western part of India is Daman and Diu. And the white sand beaches at Diu are nature's paradise. Do not forget to experience the Portuguese architecture at old Diu.
