Art and music as therapy have been prevalent for a long time now. However, travel can also be added to this list according to a new study.

A recently published journal article in Tourism Management found that the experience of going on a vacation can be beneficial for our mental health. So, with World Tourism Day’ (September 27) just round the corner, it’s high time we talk about sustainable travel and how we can celebrate this day responsibly.

As emphasized by this year’s theme: "Rethinking Tourism", it may be worthwhile to consider how travel may impact us and our mental health struggles post the pandemic.

The official World Tourism Day celebration this year will be held in Bali, Indonesia, on 27 September, highlighting the shift towards tourism being recognized as a crucial pillar of development.

Well, if you are stuck at work and don’t have any travel plans coming, just visit the UNWTO’s (United Nations World Tourism Organization) website:  www.unwto.org

for inspiration, activities, tips for your future travel plans and ways to adapt sustainable tourism. So, go on! Spread the word and join the celebration.
