When young children get involved in work that can harm their physical, mental, social, and educational development, they are classified as child labourers. As per UNICEF's data, in the world's poorest countries, more than 1 in 5 children engages in work that is likely to harm their overall growth.
To put an end to this form of activity, World Day Against Child Labour is observed every year on June 12 since 2002. This day is observed to raise awareness about child labour and urges people and organizations to come forward with plans and steps to combat child labour.
This year, the theme for World Day Against Child Labour is, Week of Action against Child Labour.
The aim of this theme is to encourage action and efforts to stop child labour. The International Labour Organization (ILO) has also initiated a week-long campaign dedicated to raising awareness about child labour injustices.
