BJP bulldozed Congress and AAP as it recorded a historic win in Gujarat. The BJP posted the best-ever tally for any party in the state assembly polls.
It even surpassed its previous best showing of 127 seats in 2002 when Modi was the chief minister.
The Election Commission's data has put the BJP's vote share at around 53 per cent, a historic first for the party. Helped by a split in the Opposition's votes due to the emergence of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the BJP broke the record of 149 seats won by the Congress under Madhavsinh Solanki in 1985.
The Congress has dislodged the BJP from Himachal Pradesh after winning 40 out of 68 seats. The BJP has won 25 seats and independents won 3 others seats.
With the BJP slogan of 'Raj nahin, riwaaj badlenge' (changing tradition and not the government) being rejected by voters, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi thanked the people of the hill state for the "decisive win" and assured them that every promise made by the party will be fulfilled.
