Ever wondered what sand dunes on Mars look like? Space agency NASA has released a stunning photograph of frosty dunes on the red planet.
The photograph was captured by NASA's 'Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter' (MRO) that is currently orbiting the red planet.
The stripes visible in the magnificent photo is a result of sublimated ice that comes with the ‘seasonal thaw', NASA shared in the Instragram caption.
It further added that 'the field of sand dunes occupies a crater that stretches for 5 kilometers. The dunes are found in the high-latitudes of Mars’ northern plains'.
