With Punjab reporting decline in Covid-19 cases, the Congress government on Saturday announced the re-opening of all schools from August 2.

According to the fresh guidelines, schools will have to follow proper protocols to ensure Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.

Teachers and staff members who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to return to school and a mandatory written consent of parents is a must for sending their children to attend classes.

Earlier, Punjab government had re-opened schools for students of Class 10 and 12 on July 26 in which consent of the parents was a must and students had the option of attending virtual classes.

As of Saturday, Punjab reported 544 active Covid-19 cases in the state taking the total to 5,99,053 cases and 16,292 deaths.
