Making history one last time, US Supreme Court's Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg became the first woman and Jew to lie in state at the US Capitol.
Lying in state is a tribute reserved for the most distinguished government officials and military officers, while lying in honour is a distinction given to private citizens.
The historic event also featured a formal ceremony for invited guests. Earlier this week, her body lay in repose on the top of the front steps of the Supreme Court building for the public to pay their respects.
Ginsburg died last Friday at the age of 87 due to complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer. She served on the US Supreme Court for more than 27 years. She will buried in a private ceremony next week.
