With Christmas/year-end breaks around the corner and international air travel finally opening up hopeful travellers are lining up plans but soaring ticket prices are playing spoilsport.
Beeline for these destination
Travel to short-haul destination like Dubai, Maldives, Sri Lanka have grown. Many chose to flock to Dubai, which continues to be top destination despite a hike in airfares of over 120% compared to 2019.
As demand for Egypt and Sri Lanka is also rising among holiday seekers, while pandemic favorite Maldives continues to witness strong demand.
Expensive Escape?
Holiday costs have gone haywire. On some sectors, airfares are close to 100% over 2019 figures as per tour operators.
Travel from India to the US, the two-way fare is Rs 1 lakh- 1.5 lakh. Earlier the return would cost around Rs 70,000.
People are eagerly waiting to travel as per holiday organisers. Most destinations are open now like the US, Canada, Europe and parts of the UK but not only rising airfare but even hotel costs are putting off plans for many .
