Tax surveys at actor Sonu Sood's home in Mumbai, and six other properties linked to the actor ended late last night on Wednesday. Income tax officers reportedly spent 20 hours searching six locations linked to the actor.

Some reports say, the income tax department is investigating Sonu Sood's property deal with a Lucknow-based real estate company.

The tax survey comes after the actor's recent meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, which triggered speculations of the actor joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Sonu Sood was declared the brand ambassador for the Delhi government's mentorship programme for school students, post his meeting with Kejriwal.

The 48-year-old actor has won a lot of praise for his charity work during the pandemic, especially for organising special flights for migrants who were stranded in cities during last year's lockdown.

Sonu Sood has shown no inclination to join politics, but speculations are rife that he may contest the Punjab elections next year as an AAP candidate.

AAP leader Raghav Chaddha has meanwhile said, that an I-T raid on a man as upright as Sonu Sood, somebody who has been called a messiah by lakhs of people, is shocking.
