A first-of-its-kind large scale study assessing how specific foods link to cognitive acuity later in life has revealed some interesting findings.
The study, published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, found that responsible consumption of cheese may protect against age-related cognitive problems. The data of 1,787 ageing adults also linked daily red wine consumption to improvement in cognitive function. Weekly consumption of lamb improves long-term cognitive prowess was another conclusion from the research.
However, the scientists involved in the study cautioned that 'randomised clinical trials are needed to determine if making easy changes in our diet could help our brains in significant ways.'
