Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow her government to procure adequate number of Covid-19 vaccines so that the entire state can be vaccinated before polls are held. Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to the PM stating ‘West Bengal Govt has decided to procure adequate number of vaccines for members of public at large’. The CM claimed West Bengal has carried out the vaccination programme "in right earnest" and added that it is important to make the vaccines available on an urgent basis to ensure the upcoming elections are safe. Currently, there are 3399 active cases in the state.
