Wedding Bells: About 35 lakh weddings to facilitate Rs 4.25 lakh crore flow in businesses

Wedding Season: Wedding bells across the country are being polished as the first spell of the season begins from November 23, the day of Dev Uthan Ekadashi and goes on till December 15. A survey conducted by research arm of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has estimated that around 35 lakh weddings will be solemnised across the country with a massive flow of about Rs 4.25 lakh crores by way of wedding purchasing and obtaining various services in the wedding business. This flow is expected to be highest so far

As per CAIT Delhi alone will witness more than 3.5 lakh weddings generating a business of about Rs 1 lakh crore. All over the country during the same period last year, about 32 lakh weddings took place and expenses were estimated at Rs 3.75 lakh crore.

The estimated budgets of weddings this season are: 

  1. 6 lakh weddings will have an estimated expenditure of Rs 3 lakh each
  2. 12 lakh weddings will cost about Rs 10 lakhs each
  3. 50, 000 weddings will have Rs 50 lakhs expenditure per wedding
  4. 50,000 weddings will have a budget of Rs 1 crore or more

Wedding Business Ready

Traders across the country have made elaborate preparations and are keeping all arrangements up to date with them to meet the possible rush of customers. As per the traders, about 80% of the expenditure goes to third party agencies working on the wedding preparations. 

Businesses of home renovation also sees a boom before the wedding season. Along with this the demand for jewellery, wedding clothing, dry fruits and fruits, sweets among several other items are also expected to rise.

Demand for a wide variety of services also usually see a big spike. This includes, tent decorators, flower decorations, catering, travel services etc. Along with this, event management has also emerged as a big business prospect.
