A slew of changes are coming into effect from June 2024. From updating your Aadhaar card to new rules for getting a driving license, here's what you need to know.
Getting a new driving license will get easier from june as the new regulations allows the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) to conduct driving tests at private training schools. The move aims to streamline the process and improve efficiency. Only those centres authorised by the government can take driving license applicants' tests.
Under the new rules, the government will eliminate around 900,000 old government vehicles and enforce stricter car emission standards. People violating traffic rules will be fined a larger amount. Fine for speeding will remain as it is, but the fine imposed in cases of a minor driving the vehicle is Rs 25,000. The vehicle owner's registration will also be cancelled.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) extended the free online Aadhaar update facility till 14 June. However, for offline update, users have to pay Rs 50 per update.
From June 1, a higher rate of tax deduction at source will be imposed on those who have not linked their Aadhaar to Pan card. The last date to link your Aadhaar to Pan is May 31.
SBI has also announced changes to its credit cards which will come into effect from June 1. As per the changes, reward points will not be applicable on government-related transactions for some credit cards. This change will impact a wide range of SBI credit cards, including popular ones like AURUM, SBI Card ELITE, SBI Card ELITE Advantage, and many others.
Oil marketing companies update the prices of LPG cylinders on the 1st of every month. Similarly a change in the prices can be expected on June 1st. In May, oil marketing companies reduced the prices of commercial cylinders. Price changes in ATF and CNG-PNG can also be expected on June 1.
