2021 has been a tough year for the entertainment industry. After two years of a Covid-induced lockdown, the film industry is slowly getting back to normalcy with theatres re-opening and business picking up slowly.

But unlike pre-Covid times, there is zero buzz around Diwali parties in tinsel town this year. Every year, the paparazzi is in overdrive, hopping from one lavish Diwali party to the other. The glamour at these parties remain in focus for weeks that follow.

Bollywood watchers are citing many reasons for the muted Diwali celebrations this year.

Probably, the biggest of them being that the entertainment industry has been under the scanner of law enforcement agencies like the NCB and the ED.

First came Aryan Khan's arrest in the cruise ship drugs case, then Chunky Panday's daughter and actress Ananya Panday was also linked to the same case, citing WhatsApp chats between the two. With this high profile case, a pail of gloom descended on B-town biggies and reports say many stars are giving big parties a miss.

Actor Shilpa Shetty, who is also known to throw glamourous Diwali parties, also went through a rough year with the arrest of her husband Raj Kundra in the porn racket case. Shilpa is also reportedly undecided if she will throw a get-together this year.

The Bachchans, too are keeping things very low key. With no parties for the last two years, this year too, there are no reports of them holding a bash.

Finally, the Kapoors. Every year Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor hold a Diwali bash for friends and family, but this year, they too seem to be in a muted mood.
