Independence Day 2023: India will be celebrating its 76th Independence Day this year. Here’s a look at a few movies that will strengthen the feeling of patriotism.

Shershaah (2021)
Director: Vishnuvardhan
Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani

The film narrates the story of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra. The Indian soldier became a household name during the 1999 Kargil War as he chased the Pakistani soldiers out of Indian Territory with his unflinching courage. 

Sardar Udham (2021)
Director: Shoojit Sircar 
Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Banita Sandhu
The film is based on freedom fighter Udham Singh’s life, who was responsible for the assassination of the former lieutenant governor of Punjab, Michael O`Dwyer. Sardar Udham murdered O`Dwyer as he and his troops cruelly killed hundreds of people in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. 

Raazi (2018)
Director: Megha Gulzar
Cast: Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal
The action-thriller is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka's novel ‘Calling Sehmat’. The film narrates the story of an Indian Research and Analysis Wing agent who is married into a family of military officers in Pakistan to bring valuable information to India.

Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
Director: Aditya Dhar
Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam
The movie is based on the 2016 surgical strike executed by the Indian Army on suspected militants who attacked an army base in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. 

Kesari (2019)
Director: Anurag Singh
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Parineeti Chopra
The film is based on a true story of the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897.
