Sonakshi Sinha and her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal recently made headlines with their intimate marriage ceremony followed by a star-studded reception in Mumbai on June 23. The couple, who had been dating for over seven years, decided on a small-scale wedding.

In an interview with Galatta India, Zaheer revealed his initial inclination towards eloping, 'I wanted to just bounce to some country, get married, and come back, but I learned that such weddings are not valid in India.' Sonakshi added, 'That plan was cancelled. I always wanted a very intimate wedding.' Their decision reflected Sonakshi's desire for a close-knit celebration with their closest friends and family, who were present at the signing ceremony.

In an interview with HT City, Sonakshi called herself 'lucky'. She said, 'I was just thinking that nothing much has really changed in my life except that I get to live with my best friend now. And that's the most fun part... other than that, it's been normal. That's what lovely relationships do that they don't make you change who you are. So yeah, life is great. He's lovely. I am a lucky girl.'

Sonakshi further added, 'We were both waiting for this moment for so long that I couldn't control myself. I was like, 'ho gya boss'.' She shared her overwhelming happiness and excitement during the ceremony, even shedding tears of joy. A video shared on Instagram captured the heartfelt moments as Sonakshi and Zaheer exchanged vows surrounded by loved ones at Zaheer's home in Bandra.

Sonakshi further revealed in the interview that she was the first to profess her love to Zaheer and even proposed to him.

The actor, known for her roles in films like 'Dabangg' and 'Kakuda,' described her married life as an extension of her friendship with Zaheer, calling herself fortunate to live with her best friend.

The wedding festivities culminated in a lavish reception at the renowned restaurant Bastian, in Mumbai where the couple was joined by prominent figures from the film industry.
