A day after Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation, details have emerged of the agency's case against him.
Investigators landed at the Aam Aadmi Party leader's doorstep after reportedly seizing a digital device from the Delhi excise department, which comes under Sisodia's jurisdiction. CBI officers confiscated a digital device in August 2022 and found a liquor policy draft document that was then traced to a computer in Sisodia's office, according to sources quoted by NDTV.
Most files on the computer had been deleted, but CBI's forensic team recovered the records, and found that the document was received via WhatsApp, the NDTV report said.
Subsequently, a bureaucrat who had served as secretary to Sisodia revealed that the Deputy CM had given him a copy of the draft report on liquor policy prepared by a Group of Ministers. This draft copy had the contentious "12% profit margin clause", CBI sources said.
