A major fire broke out at a building in Manipur near Chief Minister Biren Singh's bungalow in the capital Imphal city on Saturday.

A video showed massive fire emanating from a building near the high-security secretariat complex, which is just a few hundred metres from Singh's official bungalow.

According to reports, three fire tenders were deployed to the scene, and the flames were doused within an hour. No damage was reported. The cause of the fire is not known yet.

The building belonged to the family of the late IAS officer T Kipgen. The building has been vacant since violence broke out in Manipur last year.

Meanwhile, security officials have tightened security around Singh's house following the incident.
