Amid an intensifying political battle in Delhi, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party is now gunning for Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. AAP MLAs are reportedly staying at the Delhi Assembly overnight on 29 August 2022 to press for an investigation against LG Saxena for an alleged scam worth ₹1,400 crore.
The ruling party wants Saxena to resign, and CBI and ED to probe him for allegedly changing banned currency notes during his tenure as KVIC chairman in 2016 when demonetisation took place.
Recently, LG Saxena had recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the Delhi government's Excise Policy 2021-22. The move had led to the BJP attacking AAP over an alleged liquor scam.

BJP MLAs would also spend the night on 29 August at the Assembly in protest against the AAP government.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tabled a confidence motion in the Assembly. He said that the trust vote would prove that BJP's "Operation Lotus" to poach AAP MLAs and destabilise the government had failed.
