Another Jain monk who was sitting on an indefinite hunger strike, died in Rajasthan’s Jaipur late on Thursday night.

This is the second death reported since January 3.

Members of the jain community are protesting against the state government's move to promote religious tourism at the sacred Parasnath Hill in Jharkhand.

Amid protests, the Centre on January 5 stayed all tourism activities on Parasnath Hill where the Jain religious site Sammed Shikharji is located and directed the Jharkhand government to immediately take all steps necessary to protect its sanctity.
