Sonali Phogat: all you need to know about the actor-politician

BJP leader, former BIGGBOSS contestant and actor, Sonali Phogat has died at the age of 42 in Goa. Known for being active on social media, Phogat had posted a picture of herself wearing pink saffa hours before she breathed last. 

Here’s a look back at the journey of former TikTok star

Sonali Phogat was born on September 21, 1979 in Haryana’s Fatehabad. 

As per media reports, Phogat started her TV career back in 2006 as an anchor with DD Hisar.

In 2008, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party 

Phogat was appointed as BJP mahila morcha’s national vice-president 

She continued her TV journey while being associated with the saffron party. 

After she quit her anchoring, Phogat tried her hands at acting and relocated to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting 

Phogat appeared in various Haryanvi and Punjabi music videos 

Over the years, she worked with actors like Ravi Kishan and Jimmy Shergill 

Sonali, bagged a role in Zee TV’s serial ‘Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma'

In 2019, she also appeared in a web series, ‘The story of Badmashgarh’

Sonali contested  Haryana assembly elections 2019 against Kuldeep Bishnoi. The actress lost the political battle with close to 30k votes. 

Although a TikTok sensation, Sonali gained immense popularity after she entered the BIGG BOSS house in 2020 as a wild card entry.

During all these years, Sonali worked for the saffron party in tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. 

A few days ago, the late BJP leader also participated in a Janmashtami event in Haryana’s Hisar. 

Sonali lost her husband in 2016 under mysterious circumstances. She is survived by her only daughter Yashodhara Phogat
