The FIR registered by police in connection with the Ranaghat rape and murder case has now named the victim’s father.
A relative and a neighbour along with prime accused Brija Gopal Gayali, the son of a Trinamool Congress leader are also named in the FIR.
In the initial FIR, only Gayali was named among the suspect assaulters with charges including gang rape, murder, tampering with evidence apart from the POCSO Act as per a report by the Indian Express.
The father and neighbours were later booked on charges of “destroying evidence” as the 14-year-old’s body was cremated without a police complaint or a death certificate.
After the Calcutta High Court’s direction on Tuesday, CBI has taken over the case now.
The teenage girl died after she attended the birthday party of Gayali in West Bengal’s Hanskhali and returned home in an ailing and inebriated condition.
